Welcome to the Hall School of Music

Thank you for visiting our on-line store!
Our goal is to provide quality music and educational aids.

This enchanting CD features the classic tale about Ferdinand the Bull by Munro Leaf. The story has been set to music by Alan Ridout and is written for solo violin and narrator. Kids will have a wonderful time following along in the book as they listen to this captivating story and identify the musical themes that go along with each of the enjoyable characters. Also included on the CD are some of the best-known selections from Carnival Of The Animals and other favorites like The Flight Of The Bumble Bee, The Puppet Show, and The Laughing Violin. Each selection is played by violin, cello, double bass, flute or clarinet all with piano accompaniment. The performances are flawless. Each piece is introduced by a narrator who asks us to listen for certain things in the piece or delights us with amusing poetry from Ogden Nash and others. It's an absolutely delightful experience. Illustrations by Robert Lawson. Features Drostan Hall on violin and Dorothy Hall as narrator.

The Story of Ferdinand sheet music by Alan Ridout/Munro Leaf is also available by clicking here.

Conducted by Drostan Hall

Welcome to Camerata Chicago, a string chamber orchestra consisting of 14 young prize winning musicians, which had its conception in 2003.  The ensemble is equally at home in intimate settings as well as larger chamber music venues, performing the rich tapestry of diverse string repertoire including newly commissioned works.  Camerata Chicago stands while playing, heightening the expressive freedom of the musicians, thus intensifying the projection of the music, as well as being visually compelling.  Making music with the musicians of Camerata Chicago is a great privilege and I invite everyone to share that experience with me.     Our first CD is taken from our debut concert and features music by Holst, Grieg and Blumhofer.    See their next event.

The Hall School of Music Chamber Orchestra was founded in 2003 and comprises the most advanced students of the school,  many of whom have principal positions in their regular school orchestra and some are members of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Featured repertoire includes music from the Baroque period and the string orchestra literature.

The orchestra is directed by the president of the school, Drostan Hall.

Rehearsals and concerts take place on Saturday mornings from 10:00 – 12:00 at College Church in Wheaton.   This CD is of our most recent concert featuring double concerti of Bach and Vivaldi.
