BAROQUE FESTIVAL ORCHESTRA

TO GIVE LIVE BROADCAST

ON WFMT 98.7 RADIO STATION

The Hall School of Music’s top ensemble, the Baroque Festival Orchestra has been invited by Chicago’s classical music radio station WFMT 98.7  to give a live broadcast on June 7th, 2008  This is part of a brand new program on WFMT called Introductions which features the best young musicians in Chicago land. The live broadcast will take place at Barrett Home Theater in Naperville at 11:00am on Saturday June 7th, 2008.  This broadcast will be in a concert setting and is free and open to the public.  All are welcome to attend.  The Baroque Festival Orchestra under the direction of its music director Drostan Hall will perform works by Vivaldi, Haydn & Britten. The featured soloists will be violinists Joel Weinberger (17) Katherine Bauer (16) and Michael Thrasher (15).

The Baroque Festival Orchestra is part of a chamber music program for advanced students at the Hall School of Music.  Rehearsals take place on Saturdays at College Church in Wheaton. Other ensembles in the program include the Training Orchestra which features younger players as well as a junior and a senior string quartet.

All the aforementioned ensembles can be heard on June 2nd 2008 7:00pm at College Church, Wheaton for the Hall School of Music’s year end concert.

Drostan Hall conductor, violinist and founder of the Hall School of Music and Camerata Chicago, is a graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England and Northern Illinois University.  He has performed globally, participating in festivals in Europe and the United States.  He has collaborated with distinguished artists from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Vermeer String Quartet. WFMT Network Chicago featured Drostan Hall and Lyudmila Lakisova in a violin and piano recital broadcast hosted by Kerry Frumkin.   Maestro Hall conducted the world premier of The Story of Ferdinand orchestrated by Jonathan Blumhofer at the Utah Music Festival in 2003.   He is also the producer of the highly successful children’s educational CD Ferdinand & Friends.
